Science fiction collection "Promised Land": Creating the Future with Imagination

Jules verne once said: "What one person can imagine, another person can turn it into reality." Submarine, helicopter, spaceship, artificial intelligence, genetic technology and other important inventions and innovations are inextricably linked with science fiction works, which wrote the bishop for this sentence. Thus this famous saying has become the most classic description of the connection between science fiction and the real world.

What can the current science fiction bring to the great changes in science and technology? How can technology lead human society to the future? Promised Land answers these questions.

Recently, Ji Shaoting, the founder of the Future Affairs Administration, Jiang Bo, a science fiction writer, Zhang Jiaxing, the technical director of artificial intelligence of Ant Financial, and An Ye, the cultural editor of Zhanlu, came to Shanghai, bringing a collection of hard science fiction novels jointly contributed by seven cutting-edge writers who were shortlisted for the nebula award, Hugo award and other outstanding awards — — Promised land.

Promised Land originated from the workshop plan of the Future Affairs Bureau. As a company focusing on science fiction culture, it has signed more than 100 domestic and foreign authors and created more than 800 novels. Since its birth in 1818, science fiction has been accompanied by the rapid development of science and technology in a country and an era. Excellent science fiction should be based on the thinking brought about by scientific and technological changes. The Bureau of Future Affairs hopes to attract more sci-fi writers to pay attention to the current changes in China. Ant Financial, as an important technology company in China, is a very good observation object. Therefore, the Bureau of Future Affairs invited more than a dozen science fiction writers and engineers of Ant Financial Artificial Intelligence Project to exchange ideas. Because of this opportunity, science fiction writers at home and abroad have the opportunity to get in touch with the technology being developed by Ant Financial. On the basis of knowing the technical mechanism, the authors have created independent stories.

Science fiction writers use imagination to edit the future, and engineers are creating the future. Ji Shaoting said: "What changes can science fiction writers in China bring to the scientific research strength in China and the great technological changes that are taking place in China? This book is a start. I hope that it will still be considered by many readers after ten, twenty and fifty years, and will be verified or overthrown by the emergence of new technologies. "

  The story of "changing face"

Jiang Bo contributed a story about "changing face" in The Promised Land. When financial criminals can use the technical loopholes of face recognition to hide the sky, personal privacy begins to be threatened by technology. Jiang Bo has been thinking about face recognition for the first time in the workshop. What kind of social problems will arise after the face brushing technology enters life? For example, is it feasible to change the facial features by light to make the machine misjudge? Coincidentally, soon after the story was written, I saw a news report about using faces to identify crimes. He believes: "If science fiction writers can run ahead of science and technology to predict something, it is a very meaningful thing for science fiction writers, and FACE/OFF partially achieved this."

Regarding whether the "black technology" described in the book will really happen in real life, Zhang Jiaxing explained in time: "This method is actually using an algorithm to cheat the algorithm. For example, it looks like a cat and adds something to the algorithm. The naked eye recognizes that the cat is still a cat, but it has become a dog in the eyes of the machine. The plot of this novel twists and turns, and the description of technology is also very imaginative. However, the face recognition technology in reality is not as simple as that written in the novel. The technical model itself is highly confidential. Companies will set up security prevention and control algorithms for it, and will also identify people in all directions through comprehensive means such as infrared and laser. "

"Enami made a deduction that is very close to the future in this novel. The best part is that this deduction was really realized later. In fact, whether it is cited or overturned, this is a good thing. I think this is the greatest value of this workshop — — Think and deduce the reality. " Ji Shaoting added.

Not predicting the future, but giving imagination.

Many people say that The Wandering Earth started the first year of science fiction in China, and the upgrading of technology made people truly realize the speed of scientific and technological development. Whether technology pursues imagination or imagination pursues technology has become a common problem for science fiction writers and technicians.

Jiang Bo believes that technology and imagination are integrated. Just as there are myths in primitive society, science fiction was born on the soil of technology. Imagination is a part of human nature and shapes human world outlook. Technology and imagination are a unity, and they promote each other and evolve together. When discussing technology, we can’t define it by pure guilt or innocence. More often, we still keep technology neutral. Whether the future is a land of hope or death, the key is to control technology within a reasonable range and serve mankind.

In Ji Shaoting’s eyes, science fiction is literature to watch the future. It is difficult to bear the function of predicting the future, but it can give countless imaginations. Whether these imaginations are good or bad, they simply depict the possibility of the future in everyone’s eyes. In the past 200 years, there will always be a few things in science fiction, such as humans setting foot on the moon, launching satellites, inventing tablet computers, and widely using big data. As Liu Cixin asked: "If the future is a high-speed car, and artificial intelligence technology is its throttle, then what technology can become the brake of this car?"

Perhaps for science fiction, the real value lies in asking questions rather than answering them, because there will always be new technologies to subvert or answer them, so you don’t have to answer them, just think. It is precisely because of this kind of thinking that some bad futures have not appeared, which is also the significance of science fiction.

The door of science fiction will not be closed.

"You are walking on the plain, and suddenly you meet a wall. This wall is infinitely high up, infinitely deep down, infinitely far to the left and infinitely far to the right. What is this wall?"

  "death."

With "Three-body" winning Hugo Award, sci-fi works have entered people’s field of vision widely. The double outbreak of The Wandering Earth’s word-of-mouth and box office has immersed creators and audiences in the wave of sci-fi. Recently, the controversy over "Shanghai Fortress" has made everyone start to wonder whether China’s sci-fi movies will end at the beginning.

China science fiction is still in its infancy, and the emergence and development of anything is not smooth sailing. Ji Shaoting said: "It can be said that The Wandering Earth started, but it doesn’t mean that all the works will get better and better in the future. After that, we will see all kinds of works writing different sci-fi futures, sorting out experiences in success, and bringing inspiration and value in failure. There is an excellent domestic sci-fi movie that people often ignore, Crazy Alien, which is inspired by Liu Cixin’s Country Teacher. There are few excellent domestic comedy sci-fi movies, and people tend to pay more attention to those works with big splash. The problem now is that we have too few science fiction works, and we can’t define China science fiction just by a few works. "

Domestic science fiction has attracted enough attention, and the potential audience is so huge that it has become history for Chinese people not to watch science fiction and care about the future. The popularity of Three-body in Japan also shows that China’s science fiction works have attracted the attention of international audiences. When more creators and supporters join the industry and have confidence in the sci-fi market in China, everyone is thinking about their relationship with science and technology, which is the essence of sci-fi works. Focus on the "Qingdao Power" in the Asian Games | rugby field!

Yuan Meng, chief correspondent of the peninsula’s all-media

The rugby event of Hangzhou Asian Games ended on the evening of September 26th. In the end, the men’s and women’s teams finished third and fourth and the first and second place finals were exciting. China men’s team lost to Japan in the third and fourth finals, ranking fourth; The women’s rugby team of China, which reached the final of the first and second place, thrillingly beat the Japanese team by one point, which not only avenged her defeat by her opponent at the Asian Games in Jakarta five years ago, but also realized her desire to win the championship at home. The exciting and fierce competition attracted tens of thousands of spectators to watch the game on the spot. And the whole Asian Games rugby match can be carried out smoothly, and there is also a force contributed by Qingdao people.

Both male and female football coaches are from Qingdao.

China women’s football team beat Japanese women’s football team 22: 21 in the final. At the moment of winning the championship, Lu Zhuan, the head of the Chinese coaching team of the women’s team, blushed excitedly. At the Tokyo Olympic Games two years ago, he broke into the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games for the first time with China women’s football, creating the best result in team history. Now, she has led the girls who play football to make history again.

Lu Zhuan, who is about to enter the age of no doubt, is a native of Qingdao. When he was young, he was selected by the People’s Liberation Army rugby team because of his outstanding sports performance. In this top football team in China, Lu Zhuan has grown rapidly and become the main force of the national team. Together with his teammates, he won the 2006 World Cup Sevens Rugby Series Bowl Championship in Hong Kong. After the Liaoning National Games in 2013, Lu Zhuan ended his 11-year career as an athlete and turned to be a coach.

Similar to his experience, Lu Xiaohui is now the head coach of the China rugby men’s team. As a Qingdao native, Lu Xiaohui is more than 10 years older than Lu Zhuan. He is one of the first professional football players in China. In the 1990s, when rugby first entered China, Lu Xiaohui was admitted to the rugby team of China Agricultural University from Qingdao.

Lu Zhuan (right), coach of China women’s rugby team, took a group photo with Hong Zhe, an international technical official. Both of them are from Qingdao.

Lu Xiaohui’s professional experience is very rich. After graduating from college, he was invited to be a "foreign aid" for two years by the rugby club in China and Hongkong. In 2004, he began to lead the national women’s football team. "I led the team to win the first Asian champion of women’s football in 2006." Lu Xiaohui recalled. At the end of 2009, Lu Xiaohui returned to his hometown and picked up the coach of Shandong Men’s Olive. Because of his excellent performance, he also got the opportunity to coach the national team.

Both Lu Zhuan and Lu Xiaohui have achieved the goals set before the game when they led the team to the Asian Games. Compared with the gold medal of the women’s team, the results of the men’s team’s top four are not bright, but considering that China started late, especially compared with the world’s top teams such as Japan and South Korea, China’s men’s football team has made remarkable progress in recent years, and it has not fallen behind against Japan and South Korea. "After the Asian Games, we are going to play the Olympic qualifiers immediately, and the task is still relatively heavy. I hope that the Olympic qualifiers in the future can make up for the regret of this competition." Lu Xiaohui and reporters said.

There are also many Qingdao people in the technical team.

Walking off the podium, Lu Zhuan happily took a group photo with several staff members. When I opened my mouth, I found that it was all Qingdao accent. "There are 11 Qingdao people in the football competition team of this Asian Games." Liu Jifeng, who is in charge of the competition operation, and the reporter introduced.

Liu Jifeng is about the same age as Lu Xiaohui, and he is also one of the earliest football players in China. Lao Liu was admitted to Shanghai Institute of Physical Education. After graduating from Shanghai Institute of Physical Education in 1999, he studied rugby rules at his own expense and became a national referee. After eight years as a referee, Liu Jifeng devoted more energy to organizing rugby matches and promoting the sport.

"For the Asian Games held at our doorstep, our competition operation team came to Hangzhou two years in advance, worked intermittently for more than a year, and stayed in Hangzhou for the last two months, mainly to ensure the smooth operation of the event, and then to protect our national team." Liu Jifeng said.

Qingdao referees and technical officials who participated in the rugby match of this Asian Games took a group photo with the women’s team coach Lu Zhuan after the game.

Qingdao people who participated in the rugby match operation team of this Asian Games also included Teng Liang of the competition operation team, Hong Zhe, an international technical official, Kou Yong, Ai Bin, Guo Xiaohui, Jiang Gangan, Wang Tingting, Yin Linmeng, Tan Xueshuai and Song Shun, domestic technical officials. They all have experience in rugby, and many of them are former star players. Like the young Wang Tingting, she once won the third place in the women’s rugby team on behalf of the national team at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games. Jiang Gangan won the rugby women’s team championship in Incheon Asian Games on behalf of China in 2014, and won the rugby women’s team championship in Asian Championships for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016.

Hong Zhe, an international technical official, currently works in Qingdao Compulsory Isolation Drug Rehabilitation Center and has been a rugby referee for 15 years. "In recent years, the rugby referee team in our country has been growing, and it is very necessary to test it through high-level competitions such as the Asian Games. This time, we successfully completed the task and were recognized by officials and technical representatives of international rugby organizations. " Hong Wei said.

Start early and have plenty of reserve forces.

Men’s rugby sevens entered the Asian Games family in 1998, and women’s rugby officially became a competition in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. Because this sport combines technology, wisdom, physical strength, speed and other elements, the intensity of confrontation is much higher than that of football and basketball, so it is highly observable.

With rugby officially becoming an Olympic and Asian Games event, the sport, which was slightly "unpopular", has attracted more and more attention in China. Many Qingdao rugby players participated in this Asian Games in Hangzhou, which is enough to show the development level of Qingdao rugby.

China women’s football team took a group photo with the technical officials after winning the championship.

Qingdao rugby has always occupied a very important position in the national rugby field. This is mainly due to the early launch of this sport in Qingdao. Since the 1990s, Beijing Agricultural University, Shanghai Institute of Physical Education, PLA Institute of Physical Education and other institutions of higher learning have begun to recruit rugby talents. Qingdao players are generally favored because of their excellent physical condition, flexibility and coordination.

In 1998, Qingdao established the first rugby club in China, Shark Rugby Club. More and more Qingdao children began to contact and engage in rugby. In the rugby competition of the 25th Sports Meeting in Shandong Province, which ended last year, the four teams of men and women in Qingdao Basketball Rugby Center won a champion, two runners-up and a third runner-up, and won a total of 12.5 gold medals according to the scoring method of rugby events, ranking first in the province in the gold medal list. This fully shows the strength of Qingdao rugby junior talents at present.

"Now there are more and more retired players in Qingdao who have transformed into referees and technical officials. Qingdao rugby has developed very well as a whole. I hope that competitions like the Asian Games can further exercise our referee team and drive more Qingdao people to participate in this sport in the future." Liu Jifeng said.

Gong Xue, the first beauty in the 1980s, left the United States because of the hooliganism case, and she was exposed at the age of 67.

In life, there is always an endless pursuit of beauty. From birth, we want to have an angel-like appearance. When we reach adulthood, we are attracted by all kinds of beautiful things, and we will pay whatever it takes to get that flash of light, even if we go through fire and water.

But beauty is not necessarily a good thing. Sometimes, it will bring disasters to people, just like tall trees, which always attract storms. She is a typical example. She used to be the "first beauty" who was all the rage. Her smiles can make countless people fall for it. She was also the victim of a sensation, because she left her motherland and went away from home in despair and anger. She is Gong Xue.

Gong Xue, a born artist, is a legendary beauty. Her birth is a kind of fate, her father is an outstanding painter, her mother is an excellent photographer, and her family is a temple of art, without any prejudice or bondage, only caring for and cultivating her. In such an environment, Gong Xue showed amazing artistic talent, and had a strong interest in music since childhood. He often served as a music committee member in the class, and also participated in the performance of the Children’s Palace on behalf of the school, winning the championship in one fell swoop.

Gong Xue’s story is a history of struggle from the countryside to the stage. With her sweat and talent, she proved that her dream will not be erased by time, as long as she has the heart, it is possible. Gong Xue had just left the campus in 1970 and was assigned to a mountain village in Jiangxi to participate in agricultural production, which is undoubtedly a great challenge for a city girl who grew up in Shanghai.

Gong Xue spent three years in a mountain village. The three years’ experience changed her personality greatly. She became stronger, more optimistic, more confident and more aware of the value and significance of life. In 1972, Gong Xue finally ended her career in the countryside and returned to Shanghai. Her family and friends were very happy to meet her and she hugged them happily. However, Gong Xue is not content with the status quo. She still has one unfulfilled wish, that is, to become an actress.

She likes acting since she was a child. She thinks that being an actress is a very attractive profession. She can express her feelings and ideas through artistic forms, and also bring joy and emotion to the audience. She found an opportunity, that is, to join the Art Troupe, which is an organization that provides culture and entertainment for the troops. Its members are all young people with artistic talent. They often go to the front to perform for the soldiers and bring them laughter and warmth.

Gong Xue’s efforts were not in vain. A year later, with her outstanding performance in the art troupe, she was favored by the Shanghai Theatre, and she was admitted as a drama actress. She started her own drama career. She participated in many classic drama works. She won the audience’s love and respect with her acting skills, and she also became an influential drama star.

She played Qin Nan in Under the Bridge in 1984, a gentle, kind, pure and beautiful woman. Her performance won unanimous praise from the audience and experts, and also won her the "Best Actress" in two major awards of China films-"Hundred Flowers Award" and "Golden Rooster Award", which is a rare honor. Her name and image have also been widely spread. She is known as the "four golden flowers" with Liu Xiaoqing, Pan Hong and yu zhang. She is known as the first beauty in the mainland in the 1980s, and she is also known as the "Audrey Hepburn" in China because she has the same temperament and charm.

Her career has also made great strides. She has appeared in many film and television works, such as Colorful Morning Light, Begonia, I don’t know its name, etc. Her roles are diverse, her acting skills are exquisite and her style is unique, and her light cannot be concealed, which has become a landscape of that era. She has been loved and respected by many people, and she has also been envied and envied by many people. Her beauty and achievements have made her a bright spot and a target. Without her knowledge, some people have started plotting against her, while others have started attacking her.

In 1986, her life suddenly suffered a disaster, which made her fall from heaven to hell. That year, an earth-shattering case happened in Shanghai. In two years, a gang of hooligans raped and molested more than 50 young women. These evil acts made the people angry. One of the criminals even recorded his crime in the form of a novel, in which a female star named Gong was mentioned. This booklet was circulated on the black market and caused an uproar.

Unfortunately, Gong Xue just met the characteristics of this female star. Her name and identity were quickly linked to this hooligan case. She became the target of public criticism and was mistaken for the "dirty female star". Her reputation and image were destroyed overnight.

Gong Xue had no idea about the cause and effect of this incident. She only felt that she had been set up innocently. She couldn’t understand why someone would do this to her, and she couldn’t stand the malicious attacks and abuse from people who didn’t know the truth. Her mind was greatly traumatized and her life was plunged into darkness.

She felt that she had no hope. She even thought about death. Fortunately, her family discovered her abnormality in time. They decided to let Gong Xue go back to her hometown and give her the warmest companionship and care. They also tried to help Gong Xue regain her confidence and courage and let her stand up again and face the world.

Later, Gong Xue and Zhang Xun held a grand wedding in Austin, USA. Gong Xue’s wedding caused an uproar in China. Some people say that Gong Xue had to flee China because he was framed as a "hooligan" at home. Some people say that Gong Xue gave up his domestic career because he had a Hollywood dream and followed Zhang Xun to the United States. These statements are nothing more than jealousy, suspicion or curiosity, but Gong Xue doesn’t care. She only cares about her heart and her lover.

Until 2006, Gong Xue, who had lived in the United States for 20 years, decided to follow in Zhang Xun’s footsteps and return to the embrace of the motherland because of her work. In fact, she had the idea of returning to China for a long time, but she always cared about the growth of her daughter Zhang Ya and didn’t want her to be influenced too much.

Many people are looking forward to Gong Xue’s comeback. After all, she is the Gong Xue of absolute beauty, and her acting skills and face value are unparalleled. However, she let everyone down. She never appeared on the big screen again, but occasionally appeared in some TV dramas, which made people lament her immortal legend.

Today, she is nearly 70 years old, but her face is still young, her facial features and contours are still clear and exquisite, and her temperament and style are still unique. She is a happy old lady and a legendary woman.
