Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security issued the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Occupational Classification Ceremony (2022 Edition)."Hot pot cook" has become a new type of work under the occupation of Chinese cooks. According to the official definition, a "hot pot chef" is a person who is engaged in making hot pot bottoms, sauces, dipping materials, preparing dishes, cutting and matching dishes, and has certain catering management and management capabilities.

Wang Wenjun, who is the vice president of Chongqing Hotpot Association, said that there was no nationally recognized professional type of work in the hot pot industry before. In many skill competitions, hot pot cooking was often regarded as a special competition under the "Chinese cooking" project, and the word "hot pot" was not indicated in the awards.Nowadays, the "hot pot cook" has become a new type of national occupation, which represents that the country has created a new channel for the hot pot practitioners to become professional skilled personnel.

"In the past, the standards of the hot pot industry were uneven. For example, the control of oil temperature varied from person to person. Improper oil temperature will not only affect the taste of the bottom material, but also endanger the health of diners. After the emergence of new jobs, the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security will work with the Municipal Commission of Commerce to actively strive for the development qualification of the national professional standard of’ hot pot cooks’, which is conducive to the standardized management of the industry and ensuring people’s food safety. " Wang Wenjun said.

In 2015, Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security took "Hot Pot Cooker" as a local characteristic type of work, and established a special professional competence standard. So far, more than 60,000 people have obtained the Chongqing local hot pot special professional competence certificate through examination. At present, the scale of the whole hot pot industry chain in Chongqing has reached 100 billion. After the local characteristic jobs are certified by the state, the industry will usher in new opportunities.

"If you are skilled in the world, you can walk the world." Wang Wenjun said that after "hot pot cooks" become new jobs, a number of new training bases will be established to promote further systematic and professional training of talents in the hot pot industry.
