On July 25th, 2023 SAIC Volkswagen "Stars Project" Hope Primary School Summer Camp opened in Shanghai. From July 24th to July 30th, 40 teachers and students from 7 SAIC Volkswagen Hope Primary Schools in Yunnan, Henan, Guangxi, Shaanxi and Hubei provinces gathered in Shanghai for a 7-day summer camp trip.
A "learn for practice"trip
At the beginning of the activity, the children of the "Stars Project" joined hands with the minority partners of the "From the Mountain" charity project to visit the Shanghai Film Museum and exchange prepared gifts. Later, the children went to SAIC Volkswagen’s factory in Anting to observe the modern automobile production process at close range and understand the development process of SAIC Volkswagen.
Since then, the children have successively visited the Chinese Art Palace, the Oriental Pearl and the Yuyuan Garden to experience the different charms of Shanghai, and went to places with scientific significance such as Huangpu Youth Science and Technology Center and Shanghai Natural Museum to experience the application of textbook knowledge. In addition, the children also went to Shanghai Disneyland to punch in, and visited Fudan University, a well-known university, to feel the university life they might be exposed to in the future.
It is worth mentioning that in the summer camp, children can experience an interesting STEM course every night, including learning to make cars that generate electricity through salt water and making orbital ball devices; Paper-making experience combined with China’s traditional skills; And combined with the space boom in recent years, under the leadership of teachers, we started to make "small rockets"; Make intelligent car robots with image sensors and access to the Internet.
Through the zero-distance experience with STEM course, children can get a small scientific work and master a new knowledge every day through the classroom, which not only feels the mystery of science and the fun of exploration, but also exercises the innovative spirit and practical ability in the process of turning imagination into reality.
The 7-day trip to Shanghai of 2023 SAIC Volkswagen "Stars Project" summer camp is a combination of fun and education, which not only enriches the summer life of Hope Primary School students, but also helps them broaden their horizons, increase their knowledge and improve their ability to live independently. The combination of summer camp and STEM course gives children the opportunity to feel the charm of science and technology, cultivate their practical ability and exploration spirit.

As one of the largest automobile manufacturers in China, SAIC Volkswagen is widely involved in public welfare undertakings in the fields of education, safety, environmental protection, community and culture, and the "Star Project" is a landmark project of SAIC Volkswagen in the field of public welfare education.
In 2020, SAIC Volkswagen officially released the CSR 2025 strategy. This strategy is based on SAIC Volkswagen’s strategy of "creating 2025 together", responding to the UN’s sustainable development goal of 2030, and promoting the company’s sustainable development.
The CSR 2025 strategy starts with basic responsibility and public welfare responsibility, and continuously promotes relevant work in compliance management, products, zero-carbon road, employee and partner responsibility and social welfare, fully integrates CSR into the company’s operation and management process, creates social responsibility of the whole value chain, realizes value sharing between enterprises and society, and becomes a responsible corporate citizen.
"Ensuring inclusive and fair quality education" is an important part of the United Nations 2030 sustainable development goal. As early as 1995, SAIC Volkswagen paid attention to the importance of youth education in the development of underdeveloped areas and began to build Hope Primary School in Xinjiang. Since 2012, SAIC Volkswagen has donated educational funds to Xinjiang for five consecutive years, and equipped local schools with computer rooms, art rooms and sports equipment.
The "Stars Project", which started in 2015, was jointly sponsored by SAIC Volkswagen and China Youth Development Foundation to improve the teaching building construction and teaching environment, and provide teaching equipment and teaching resources for rural schools.
Up to now, SAIC Volkswagen’s "Stars Project" has donated more than 16 million yuan and built 11 hope schools in Hunan, Henan, Guangxi, Hubei, Xinjiang, Guizhou, Shaanxi and Yunnan. There are sports facilities, library, voice classroom, computer room and other supporting facilities in the school building, which bring more efficient learning tools and richer learning resources to children.
According to statistics, more than 1,000 young people benefit from the "Stars Project" every year, and the total number of beneficiaries exceeds 20,000.
Practice the responsibility of sustainable citizenship
Before the Shanghai Summer Camp in 2023, SAIC-Volkswagen also launched the "Star Project" summer camps in Shanghai in 2016 and Changsha in 2022. In recent years, the "Star Project" has been upgraded again. SAIC Volkswagen has focused on STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics education), and through multiple measures such as curriculum research and development, teacher capacity building and supporting activities, it has transformed from hardware upgrading in Hope Primary School to helping to cultivate the soft power of rural education, and the value behind the birth of automobiles-scientific exploration and innovation spirit-will benefit children in the form of educational public welfare, helping children dream of sailing and dreaming of stars.
At present, 12 STEM-themed courses have been developed and will be fully promoted in the Hope School aided by SAIC Volkswagen.
In addition to rural education, SAIC Volkswagen is also participating in public welfare undertakings in different forms in places where SAIC Volkswagen production bases have been established in many places across the country:
In the past year, in Shanghai, SAIC Volkswagen launched the "Community Traffic Safety You and I Guard Together" activity, which passed on the concept of road traffic safety to community residents. In Nanjing, SAIC Volkswagen launched a public welfare tour of "Telling the’ Beautiful Nanjing’ in your heart and mine", integrating into the local area and the community, evoking more human warmth with actions and paying tribute to the guardians of the city; In Ningbo, SAIC Volkswagen invited community residents to jointly carry out biodiversity observation activities in combination with the zero-impact factory area and surrounding wetlands …
In recent years, SAIC Volkswagen has gradually formed a circle of friends with common interests by developing like-minded and influential common interests organizations.
