The wild panda gave the villagers a "Happy New Year" and ran away after eating and drinking enough.

This is Gao Fuhua, a wild giant panda photographed by the reporter in Jiajin Mountains last year.

The wild giant panda was discovered for the first time in Xinjian Township, Yingjing County, Ya ‘an. At present, the giant panda has returned to the mountain forest safely.

On February 1st, the first day of work after the Spring Festival holiday, a wild giant panda suddenly visited the bamboo forest next to the vegetable field of Li Shijia ‘an, a villager in Xinjian Township, Yingjing County, Ya ‘an City. After eating and drinking enough, facing the folks who heard the news and the industrial personnel of the Forestry Bureau, the giant panda who came to "pay a New Year call" ran away. The staff of the county forestry bureau determined that the giant panda was in good health after testing its feces. It is estimated that the reason for its "close contact" with the villagers is to feed. It is reported that this is also the first time that a wild giant panda has been found in Xinjian Township.

The "mouth-stealing" panda goes home after eating

According to Li Shian, the first villager to find a giant panda, he went to his own field in Baiyanxia (a small place name) at 1 noon on the 1st to check the growth of rape. Suddenly, I found a mass of things moving in the bamboo forest 5 meters ahead. Because the Woods and bamboos are deep and dense, and the dense fog on the mountain is not exhausted, he mustered up courage and slowly took a few steps forward. On closer inspection, it turned out to be a giant panda.

Li Shian stepped back gently. This move obviously alarmed the giant panda. "It sat on the ground and shouted at me first, and then blew (gas) here." Li Shian said, it looks a little short-tempered. "However, in the whole process, it (the giant panda) never got up and walked around." Li Shian knew that the giant panda was a national treasure, so he immediately went down the mountain to call the township government and reported what he had seen to the relevant departments.

There is a giant panda in the village! At that time, the whole village was boiling. The relevant person in charge of the newly-built township government immediately remitted the staff of the Forestry Public Security Bureau and the Wildlife Bureau of Tongxian County to the bamboo forest of Li Shijia’s home. It’s a 40-minute walk from Li Shijia’s home to the bamboo forest. After the first batch of people arrive, the giant pandas who come to "pay New Year greetings" still stay where they are and eat bamboo. She Congjiang, the driver of the newly-built township government, told the reporter, "When we arrived, it was about 3 noon, and it (the giant panda) was eating bamboo. Later, when he saw many people, he ran off to the mountains. " According to several witnesses, the giant panda weighs about 100 kilograms.

The "mouth-stealing" panda ate and drank enough and left. At the scene, only three fresh feces and leftover bamboo were left. The staff of the county forestry bureau confirmed that the giant panda was in good health through the test of feces. "It is estimated that because of the cooling a few days ago, the bamboo on the mountain was covered with heavy snow. The giant panda will go down the mountain to feed. "

According to historical records, there were giant pandas in Yingjing early.

Although this is the first time that a wild giant panda has been found in Xinjian Township, for Yingjing County, the giant panda is not a "rare visitor". As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (2,700 years ago), there was such a narrative in the geographical work Shan Hai Jing: "Bear-like, black and white beast, eating copper and iron, produced in the south of Yandao County, Nawei Mountain (now the south of Yingjing County, Sichuan Province)". This animal called iron eater is actually a giant panda. It can be inferred that as early as 2,700 years ago, giant pandas thrived in Yingjing County.

According to Yang Hong, deputy director of the Forestry Bureau of Yingjing County, Yingjing County has always been a corridor connecting the large and small Xiangling Mountain System, Qionglai Mountain System and Minshan Mountain System due to its special geographical location. As early as a few years ago, in order to better protect rare wild animals such as giant pandas and red pandas and their habitats, and preserve the integrity and continuity of giant panda habitats, Yingjing County, including Longcanggou Township, Anjing Township and Daxiangling Mountain Area, was designated as a giant panda nature reserve.

"It is not uncommon to find traces of giant pandas in Yingjing!" Yang Hong said that in recent years, in the process of investigating the living conditions of giant pandas, the Forestry Bureau has repeatedly found traces of giant pandas’ activities and feces. According to research, there are now 10 to 20 giant pandas living in Daxiangling Nature Reserve. "However, it is the first time to find wild giant pandas in Xinjian Township!"
