On April 2, 2023, the National Immigration Bureau and its subordinate station-level units held the first issuing ceremony of the national immigration management agency’s frontier defense medal, and awarded the first batch of 8,487 comrades the national immigration management agency’s frontier defense medal.
The police of the national immigration administration are stationed in the snowy plateau and Gobi desert hard and remote areas all the year round. With firm ideals and beliefs, strong mission and deep feelings of home and country, they have taken root in and contributed to the frontier, making great sacrifices and outstanding contributions to safeguarding national political security and border stability. In order to further enhance the sense of honor, belonging and mission of the immigration management team, according to the Regulations on National Meritorious Honor Commendation and other regulations, with the approval of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, a national immigration management agency was established to guard the frontier commemorative medallion.
The main chapter of the national immigration management agency’s commemorative badge for guarding the frontier consists of five stars, the Great Wall Pass, a shield, an olive branch, saussurea involucrata and other elements. It shows that the immigration management agencies perform their duties according to law, and shoulder the mission of safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, promoting economic and social development, and ensuring exchanges between Chinese and foreign personnel. Saussurea involucrata symbolizes persistence, fearlessness and purity, and symbolizes the loyalty and lofty character, tenacious will and selfless dedication, fighting spirit and bloody responsibility of the border police. The sub-chapter is composed of streamers, peaks, ruyi and other elements, and the gold, silver and copper stripes represent 30, 20 and 10 years of frontier defense respectively.
According to the relevant provisions of the Measures for the Administration of the Issuance of Commemorative Medals for Guarding the Frontier by National Immigration Management Agencies, gold, silver and bronze medals will be issued to the on-the-job immigration management police who have worked in more than three types of hard and remote areas in Xizang Autonomous Region and other border provinces (including those who have worked in more than three types of hard and remote areas) for a total of 30, 20 and 10 years.
